Objective

Calculate the PSA doubling time and velocity to support decisions in active surveillance and follow-up.

Clinical scenario

In active surveillance and after surgery, PSA kinetics is the earliest sign of progression. The app computes PSADT and velocity from a series of values.

    Enter the PSA series

    In the MSKCC PSADT module, provide the PSA values with their dates.

    Read the doubling time

    The app runs a linear regression on log(PSA) and returns the PSADT in months.

    See the velocity

    PSA velocity (ng/mL/year) complements the kinetics reading.

    Cross-check with PSA density

    Use the density module to weight the absolute value by prostate volume.

Clinical pearls

  • A short PSADT is a warning sign even with a low absolute PSA — kinetics rules.
  • You need at least 3 time points for a stable doubling-time estimate.
